Most Jotform reviews you'll find lead with a star rating from a review site. This Jotform review doesn't, because ratings move every week and you can't check where they came from. Instead, every Jotform fact here comes from Jotform's own website and help pages, checked on November 2, 2026, and anything in quotes is Jotform's own wording.
We make HornetForms, another form builder, so read this with that in mind. We've kept the Jotform parts to what Jotform says about itself, and our own product gets one clearly labeled section near the end. If you only want the free plan or the prices, our posts on the Jotform free plan and Jotform pricing go deeper on both.
Jotform review: the short version#
Jotform's FAQ describes the product in one line: "Jotform is a powerful online application that allows anyone to quickly create custom online forms." It goes on: "Using Jotform, you can create and publish forms, integrate them into your site, and receive responses by email."
In plain terms, this Jotform review comes down to four points:
- It's a drag-and-drop form builder with a very large template gallery, widgets and payment options built in.
- There's a free plan, called Starter, with all standard features and lower limits.
- Paid plans mostly raise the limits. Jotform's FAQ says free users get "all of the same features as paid users, but with lower limits." One difference the pricing page shows: paid plans can remove Jotform branding.
- The limits decide your cost. How many forms, responses, views and payments you need sets the plan you land on.
How does Jotform work?#
Any Jotform review has to start with the builder. If you're asking how does Jotform work, its help center has a step-by-step answer in How to Create Your First Web Form (last updated June 8, 2026). Here's the flow it describes.
Start from a template or from scratch#
From the My Workspace page, you click Create, then Form. The article says you "can choose Start from Scratch or Use Template to select from over 20,000 premade forms." Starting from scratch, you pick one of two layouts:
- Classic Form: "Displays all questions on a single page."
- Card Form: "Shows one question per page for a guided experience."
Add questions, payments and widgets#
In the Form Builder, an Add Element menu holds three tabs, as the help article lists them:
| Tab | What Jotform's help article says it holds |
|---|---|
| Basic | "essential fields like Name, Email, Short & Long Text, Multiple Choice, Dropdown, and Date Picker" |
| Payments | Payment gateways "to accept online payments" |
| Widgets | "advanced fields such as ... file uploads, rating scales, and progress bars" |

You drag each element onto the form. Jotform's help article on form builders (last updated June 1, 2026) puts it this way: "You can simply drag and drop questions and form fields to where you require them."
Style it, set up emails, then share#
A paint roller icon opens the Form Designer, with tabs for colors, styles, themes and layout. For emails, the same help article says: "By default, Jotform automatically generates an email notification when you create a form." To share, you click Publish, then "Copy link and send it directly to your users via email or social media." Jotform's FAQ also lists sharing "via email, link, QR code, or by embedding it in your website or social media platforms."
Responses land in Jotform Tables. Jotform's help article on downloads (last updated May 11, 2026) says you can "download your form submissions as Microsoft Excel, CSV, or PDF files."
What about a Jotform survey?#
You build a Jotform survey the same way, in the same Form Builder. Jotform's survey page describes the steps: "Simply drag and drop to add survey questions and form fields, update the design, set up conditional logic and widgets, and add your branding. Then publish and share your survey to start accepting responses." The same page says a free account can build "a maximum of five free surveys," and that you'll need to upgrade to "accept more than 100 monthly survey responses." If you're comparing survey tools in general, our guide to picking a free survey maker walks through what to check.
What's on the Jotform free plan#
Jotform's pricing FAQ says: "The Starter plan includes all standard features, such as form templates, payment integrations, and widgets." It also says "there is no trial period for Jotform plans," so the free Starter plan is how you try the standard features.
Two things come with Starter. The FAQ says "your forms ... will include Jotform branding," which a paid plan can remove. And Starter has lower limits on forms, monthly responses, form views, storage and payments. The plan card numbers on November 2, 2026 matched the ones in our Jotform free plan post, which also works through how fast a real form reaches them and what people see at the cap.
Jotform pricing in brief (as of November 2, 2026)#
Jotform's FAQ lists the lineup: "Jotform offers several plans, including Starter (free), Bronze, Silver, and Gold plans. Jotform also offers Enterprise plans with custom pricing for large organizations." It adds: "Storage and submission limits increase with each level."
For this Jotform review, we loaded jotform.com/pricing in a browser on November 2, 2026. The plan cards showed the same prices and limits our Jotform pricing post recorded on October 28, 2026, so that post's tables still hold, along with the nonprofit and education discounts and what each plan costs over a year. Two lines matter for teams:
- Each card from Starter to Gold says "1 User Individual Plan." The FAQ calls Enterprise "the only multiuser Jotform plan."
- Limits count across your account. The FAQ defines the submission limit as "the total number of form responses from all forms that your account can support on a monthly basis."
The Jotform compare page has a dated side-by-side with HornetForms, if you want both in one view.
What Jotform is good at#
A fair Jotform review should say what the product does well. Going by Jotform's own pages, these stand out:
- A huge template gallery. Jotform's FAQ says you can "pick from 20,000+ different ready-made templates." That's a real head start if your form is a common one, like an order or registration form.
- Lots of add-ons for fields. The widgets page says you can "Choose from hundreds of online form widgets to include extras such as video, social media or maps in your forms."
- Payments built in. The help article's Payments tab holds several payment gateways "to accept online payments", and Starter includes payment integrations.
- Two layouts from one builder. Classic shows every question on one page; Card shows one at a time. You can switch in the Form Designer's layout tab.
- Logic without code. The FAQ says its "conditions tool can show or hide whatever form fields you choose, depending on how people answer previous questions."
- A wider suite. The FAQ points to tools beyond forms: "Organize form data in Jotform Tables, manage responses in Jotform Inbox, and create fillable PDF forms in Jotform's PDF Editor."
Who Jotform suits, in its own words#
Jotform's pricing FAQ says who each plan is for. We've quoted it as written, since that's the most direct answer to "who does it suit":
| Plan | Who Jotform says it's for |
|---|---|
| Starter (free) | "best for individuals or small teams just starting their data-collection journeys" |
| Bronze | "ideal for startups or freelancers who are hitting the ground running with data collection and need more than the basics" |
| Silver | "the best value for small to mid-tier businesses" |
| Gold | "the highest limits (outside of Enterprise plans) for your Jotform account" |
| Enterprise | "suitable for large organizations" |

The verdict of this Jotform review: Jotform fits well if your forms are common types you can start from a template, your monthly numbers sit comfortably inside a plan, and one person runs the account (or you're ready for Enterprise). If your busiest month is much bigger than your average one, price the plan for the busy month.
Questions to ask before you choose Jotform#
Jotform reviews can't tell you if a tool fits your form. These questions can, and you can answer each one in a few minutes on Jotform's own pages:
- How many responses could your busiest month bring? Compare it with the plan's "Monthly Submissions" line, not your average month.
- How many forms will be live at once? Old forms you keep open count too.
- How many responses will you keep over a year? Storage on each plan is a running total.
- Will the form take payments? Check the plan's monthly payment line.
- How many people need their own login? Read the "1 User Individual Plan" line on each card.
- What happens on the day you reach a limit? The pricing FAQ answers it: "When you reach a usage limit, the system will send you a notification email and warn you on your dashboard."
- How will you get your responses out later? Try a CSV or Excel download with a test response first.
If a busy month is the worry, our story on when your form hits the response limit shows what that day looks like.
Free Jotform decision checklist (PDF)#
The free Jotform decision checklist (PDF, US Letter), also in A4, puts these questions on paper. It's two pages:
- Twelve questions with a tick box, a short hint on where to look and a line for your answer, from "Which form are you choosing a tool for?" to "How will you get your forms and responses out later?"
- A blank fit table for six things you count (forms live at once, responses in the busiest month, responses stored after 12 months, payments, logins and the largest upload). You write your number, then copy the plan's number from Jotform's pricing page on the day you check.
Think of it as a Jotform review you fill in for your own form. It holds no Jotform prices or limits on purpose, so it stays right when plans change.
Another option: HornetForms#
If the limits are what give you pause, here's how HornetForms handles the same questions. Everything below is about our own product:
- Unlimited forms and unlimited responses within fair use on every plan, Free included. Fair use means you use HornetForms the way people use a form builder: to build forms and collect answers from real people. We don't count or cap your forms or responses on any plan, and we never charge for volume.
- Free is free forever, not a trial.
- Payments on every plan. Take a one-time payment on Stripe's hosted Checkout page, through your own Stripe account. Stripe's normal processing fees apply, and HornetForms adds no fee of its own.
- Quiz mode is on every plan, Free included, for graded quizzes with a pass mark.
- No per-seat pricing. Pro and Business include unlimited team members, and members never pay.
Moving a Jotform form across is a rebuild. Upload a PDF or Word (.docx) copy of the form and AI rebuilds it as a draft for you to check, using one AI generation from your monthly allowance. Coming from Typeform too? You can import a form from Typeform. The pricing page lists what Pro and Business add, and our HornetForms vs Typeform vs Tally post covers the other big names.
The small print#
Jotform is a trademark of Jotform Inc. HornetForms is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Jotform. We recheck them at least every 90 days. Plans and features can change at any time, so check Jotform's own pages on the day you decide.
